Common Questions.

What should I bring to my first session? ↓
Please bring any medical reports (X-rays/MRI), comfortable athletic wear, and a list of current medications.
How many sessions will I need? ↓
Recovery varies per person. After your initial assessment, we provide a structured timeline based on your condition.
Will physiotherapy be painful? ↓
While some techniques (like breaking down scar tissue) can be uncomfortable, "no pain, no gain" is a myth. The goal is "therapeutic discomfort," but you should never feel sharp, stabbing, or unbearable pain.
How long will it take to see results? ↓
This depends on the injury. Soft tissue issues may improve in 2-4 weeks, while chronic conditions like frozen shoulder can take months of consistent work to fully resolve.
Why do I have to do exercises at home? ↓
Your 45-minute clinic session isn't enough to rewire your muscles. Home Exercise Programs (HEPs) provide the "dosage" needed to create permanent change in tissue length and strength.
Can't I just take medication instead? ↓
Medication (NSAIDs) masks the pain by reducing inflammation, but it doesn't fix mechanical issues like poor posture, muscle weakness, or joint stiffness. PT treats the root cause.
Why do I have to do exercises at home? ↓
Your 45-minute clinic session isn't enough to rewire your muscles. Home Exercise Programs (HEPs) provide the "dosage" needed to create permanent change in tissue length and strength.
Why is my "good" side hurting now? ↓
This is called compensation. When one joint (like your frozen shoulder) isn't moving, your other shoulder or neck muscles work overtime to help you reach or lift, leading to secondary strain.
Can I stop coming once the pain is gone? ↓
Pain is usually the first thing to go, but strength and joint stability take longer to return. Stopping too early often leads to a relapse because the underlying weakness hasn't been fixed.
What is that "popping" or "clicking" sound? ↓
In most cases, if it doesn't hurt, it’s just gas bubbles moving in the joint (cavitation) or tendons snapping over bony prominences. If it’s accompanied by sharp pain, tell your PT.
Should I use a brace or a sling? ↓
Generally, PTs discourage long-term bracing for things like frozen shoulder. Movement is medicine; "parking" the joint in a sling can actually make stiffness worse.
Is it okay to go to the gym while in PT? ↓
Yes, but with modifications! Your PT can help you "bridge" your rehab into your gym routine so you don't accidentally re-injure yourself on the bench press or lat pulldown.
